Wayne Robert Miller, Sr., 78, of Taylors Falls, Minnesota, passed away in his home May 23, 2024, from cancer. He is survived by sons Wayne Jr. (Tanya), Daniel (Jubilynn), Gary (Jennifer) and daughter Jenette (Jamie); grandchildren: George, Rachel, Diane (Nadia), James Jr., Donata, Allison (Josh), Daniel Jr., Ezekiel, Jeremiah, Isaiah, Katherine, and Natalie; and great-grandchildren JJ and Greta; as well as siblings: Jim (Kathy), Linda (Wayne) and Terry (Debbie); brothers and sisters-in-law, Mary Kay (Max), Beverly, Bill (Gina), Bob (Patti) and Colleen; and many nieces and nephews, and cousins.
Born to James and Florence Miller on March 21, 1946, at Bethesda Hospital in St. Paul, Minnesota, Wayne grew up on the East Side of St. Paul, the fifth of eight siblings. He graduated from Johnson High School, Class of ’64, and married Donna, the love of his life, a few years later. They went on to have four wonderful children, 12 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Wayne and Donna loved and flirted with each other throughout their entire marriage.
Wayne was a servant at heart and loved to use his carpentry skills to help others. He loved to take road trips, especially to go south in the winter. He delighted in his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and loved the neighborhood kids, too.
Wayne worked as a union carpenter for his entire career, spending the last 10 years using his carpentry skills at Hennepin County Hospital. After retirement at 55, he built a beautiful home in Taylors Falls, MN, with the help of a solid crew which included many family members. Donna enjoyed her role as site supervisor, historian, and lead crew cook.
Wayne attended Alliance Church of the Valley for nearly two decades, and firmly believed in the saving grace of Jesus Christ.
Wayne was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Donna; parents, James and Florence; brother Ron; and sisters Margie, Barbara and Dorothea. He is greatly loved and missed.
A memorial luncheon will be held 12 p.m. (Noon) on June 22 at Alliance Church of the Valley Church in Saint Croix Falls, WI.
