Darcy Edwards

Darcy Edwards

Darcy Jo Edwards, age 76, of Cambridge, passed away peacefully after a sudden decline of health on Wednesday, March 6, 2024.

Darcy was born January 26, 1948 in St. Paul, MN, daughter of late Quentin (Bud) and Shirley Glockner. Darcy graduated from Harding High School in 1966. She had a 42-year career as a cleaner/ maintenance worker. She spent 28 years of that time working for the State of Minnesota via the Cambridge State Hospital and then the Department of Corrections Rush City where she worked for 10 of those years and ultimately retired from. She stayed busy in retirement by volunteering, taking classes, arts and crafts, gardening, and staying connected with family and friends.

Darcy spent the majority of her life at her farm in Stark, MN where she raised her three sons and many animals over the years. She loved her cows and gave her sheep names like “Peaches” and “Cream.” She plowed and mowed the large property by herself, including its steep driveway, for many years which was a testament to her hard-working and independent spirit. She moved from Stark to Pine Village senior living community in Cambridge in 2017.

Darcy took the most pride in her role as a Grandma and played a crucial role in the lives of her grandchildren. She was extremely proud of and devoted to her grandchildren, who always felt her unconditional love. She gave them many great experiences as children; trips and vacations up north to memorable birthday and holiday celebrations and continued to stay invested in their lives as they grew older.

Darcy enjoyed animals (especially being a cat mom), being outdoors, cooking, traveling, gardening, autumn season, trying new local restaurants, cheesecake, bargain shopping, mini golf, true crime, scary movies, and spending time with family and friends.

In 2021, Darcy was given the gift of a StoryWorth book to capture memories and details about her life.

The following are notable quotes she wrote that give a glimpse into who she was:

“…I feel if you don’t take me for who I am, it is your loss and my gain.”

“My idea of perfect happiness is to be around my kids, grandkids, and their spouses…”

“It is what she [Grandma Ruth Glockner] instilled in me..love and to help others…Work hard and be proud of what you do. It doesn’t need to be a big paying job, still be proud.”

She will be remembered for her kindness, willingness to help others, joking and witty spirit, independence and tenacity. She is loved and will be missed by many.

Darcy was preceded in death by father Quentin (Bud) Glockner and mother Shirley Glockner. Darcy is survived by her three sons, their spouses, nine grandchildren and one brother. They include Brian (Julie) Edwards of Wyoming, Todd (Angie) Edwards of Mayer, and Troy Edwards of Weymouth, MA, grandchildren, Samantha (Ryan) Swanson of Forest Lake, Tyler Edwards of Harris, Gabby Edwards of Mankato, Paige Kvendru of Echo, Kendra Porath of Minneapolis, Vincent Perce Calayag (Reena), Anjelika Perce Calayag, Carmela Perce Calayag and Dan Perce Calayag all of Mayer. brother, Richard Glockner of Dallas, TX. She also leaves behind many cousins, friends and neighbors who will sadly miss her.
