Voting in a presidential primary election appears to have not generated enthusiasm with members of the voting public in Chisago County. The relatively lackluster showing last Tuesday of about 6,300 voters, in the 25 county precincts, equates to a turnout of approximately 16 of every 100 people registered to vote.
The County residents who did vote were supporters of candidate Donald Trump.
Presidential Primary ballots were printed long before the March 5 primary date, so a few candidates who have suspended their campaigns were still getting votes here, with Ron DeSantis and Chris Christie gathering a few.
Of the 25 polling sites; the City of Taylors Falls precinct came in as the most evenly split between Donald Trump and Joe Biden— with 52 for Trump and 53 for Biden.
The “uncommitted” choice being promoted as a Democrat protest vote, to express opposition to no cease fire in the Hamas-Israel conflict, collected about as many votes in total as Dean Phillips, Minnesota Congressperson, did countywide which wasn’t significant.
Of 25 precincts:
Trump got 3,200 votes
Haley received 765
Joe Biden 1,073
Phillips 140
Uncommitted 139 votes
There were five official candidates in the Marijuana Now Party category who got a total of 22 votes in Chisago County and seven write-in votes in this.
