Some details in triple fatal crash in Wyoming released
The preliminary details of the triple-fatality crash in Wyoming Friday, April 26 have been released by Wyoming Chief of Police Neil Bauer. He reports that the state patrol reconstruction analysis is on-going; but the investigation has confirmed a 2020 Honda CRV going northwest on Pioneer Road crossed the center line and collided head-on with a 2018 Dodge Caravan headed southeasterly on Pioneer Road.
First responders were dispatched to the scene bout 11:10 a.m. Wyoming Fire and Police, Chisago County, state patrol, M Health Fairview and Lakes Region EMS were at the scene.
“Our condolences go out to the families that lost loved ones in this tragic crash,” Chief Bauer noted. We appreciate the exceptional work that everyone did...to provide the best care possible for our community members.”
The Caravan driver, a 61-year old female from Chisago City whose name is not yet being released, and passenger Jerry Mely, 76, also from Chisago City, both perished.
The Honda CRV driver, a 63-year old male from Lindstrom who is not being named, told authorities he fell asleep and the vehicle continued in a straight line on the curve. His passenger, 62, year old Debra Pojanowski, died from injuries sustained in the collision.
Charges have not been requested at this time, the records from the medical examiner and other investigative materials are pending.
