Hamline Elite Meet
The Hamline Elite Meet is a midseason high school track event that showcases the best track and field athletes in Minnesota, regardless of Class. Athletes are entered based on the best qualifying times, distances, or heights in a given event. This year’s meet was held at Hamline University on Friday, April 26. This year, the Wildcats had two entrants, in one event – the 1600-meter run. Eighth grader Annika Hall finished 14th, with a time of 5:16.14, and junior Kaia Osmundson finished 16th, with a time of 5:24.46. Hopefully, Hall and Osmundson will be joined by some of their teammates at this prestigious event next year.
North Branch’s Ella Dick was the only qualifier for the Viking to the Hamline Elite Meet, but she made the most of it, finishing in third place in the pole vault event with a jump of 11’3”
Track Tidbits
The Wildcats will participate in an invitational meet at Coon Rapids High School tomorrow starting at 3:45 p.m. And, as if we needed more reminders about how short the spring high school sports season is, the Section 7AA True Team meet will be held next Tuesday, May 7 at Hibbing High School. The Wildcat girls, who won the meet last year, hope to repeat as True Team section champs this year. And the boys, who finished second last season, hope to climb one more spot this year.
