Chisago Lakes split two games last week, but luckily the loss came out of conference, so the Wildcats’ perfect record still stands in the Mississippi 8 Conference.

Hill-Murray 15, Chisago Lakes 6

The ‘Cats couldn’t get enough offense going to match the Pioneers scoring prowess in their match up on Tuesday, April 23. Hill scored four goals in the first quarter and the second quarter and five more in the third quarter while CL only mustered 1-2-2, leaving them in a 13-5 deficit. Hill played a keepaway game in the fourth quarter and Chisago Lakes didn’t have enough possession time to threaten a comeback.

Landon Kerkow scored two goals for the ‘Cats and Max Bobrowski had one goal and two assists. The other Wildcat goals were scored by Ben Kerkow, Jake Haseltine and Drew Nelson.

Chisago Lakes 16, Becker 5

The Wildcats turned the tables when they were back in the M8C on Thursday, April 25. 

They hammered the Becker Bulldogs for five goals in each of the first three quarters to race to a 15-3 lead and they cruised to the 16-5 victory to move to 2-0 in the conference.

Ben Kerkow had himself a night, scoring six goals and helping on two others. Cam Triplett had a hat trick to go along with an assist and Jacob Strand and Bobrowski each netted two goals. Cal Campbell, Haseltine and Judah Goehring scored the other goals for the ‘Cats.

Goaltender Dominick Derocker didn’t face much traffic, having to make just three saves among five shots. Junior Zane Adams got his first taste of varsity action with the game out of hand and made a couple saves among four shots.

The ‘Cats tough non-conference schedule rolls on over the next few weeks. They host Champlin Park tonight, on Thursday, May 2 before hosting the always tough Duluth Wolfpack on Tuesday, May 7 and the struggling Minneapolis lacrosse club on Friday, May 10.
