Chisago Lakes 16, Becker 4

The Wildcats kept their perfect season going in girls lacrosse with a 16-4 shellacking of the winless Becker Bulldogs on Thursday, April 25.

Camryn Hinsch, Kamryn Peterson and Alyson Vogelsang led the way on offense for the ‘Cats as the trio combined for 10 goals, with Hinsch netting four of them. Vogelsang and Peterson both had three tallies in the game, and Vogelsang had an assist along with her three.

Naomi Eaton and Evi Reedy had matching four point performances with two goals and two assists each, and Olivia Rambosek and Brooke Klemz each scored a goal and had an assist for the Wildcats.

The defense was strong on the night too, holding Becker to just four goals and never allowing them to hold possession, which is such a key in lacrosse.

When the Bulldogs did get a shot on net, all conference netminder Laura Carlson was in the way most of the time. She made seven saves on the night and kept Becker at bay.

Chisago Lakes 12, Blaine 9

The Wildcats stepped up in competition a bit to take on the Blaine Bengals on Monday, April 29. Head Coach Brett Eaton wanted the girls to play a bit tougher regular season schedule to better prepare them for sections. Although Blaine only had one win coming into the game, they’ve played some of the biggest schools in the state and definitely represent a step up from some of the Mississippi 8 Conference competition that CL sees.

The ‘Cats came away victorious by a score of 12-9, but it was only that close because Blaine’s goalie, Olive Heugel, played out of her mind. As a team, Chisago Lakes fired 28 shots on net, which is a very high number in lacrosse. Hinsch, Linnea Carlson and Lauren Schmidt each had two goals for CL, and Reedy, Vogelsang, Peterson, Klemz, Makenna Olson and Katelyn Anderson each potted a score for the ‘Cats to give them enough offense to tame the Bengals.

Laura Carlson faced 19 shots on the night, making 10 saves.

Up next for the ‘Cats is three more out of conference games against tough schools. They’ll host the Totino-Grace/St. Anthony Village coop on Friday, May 3 at 6 p.m. before hosting Mounds View on Monday, May 6 at 4:30 p.m. Just a few days later, they’ll travel to Anoka to take on the Tornadoes on Saturday, May 11 at noon.
