America’s pastime was as good of an excuse as any, to convince a veteran-volunteer to put up with a heaping helping of extra attention just for being a good guy. Bob Butte, from Chisago City, pictured left—got to raise the flag at the Twins and White Sox ball game April 25, plus he got four tickets. The icing on the cake— the Twins beat the White Sox 6-3 and “it was a good game,” he declared.
Butte’s son Michael nominated his 93-year-old dad for the flag-raising recognition program offered through the Twins website. Bob is a Korean conflict veteran who was awarded a Purple Heart and he was Parmly Volunteer of the Year for 2012. He landed in Parmly, in Chisago City, in order to recuperate from injuries sustained in a crash about seven years ago. He must have been a good patient, and he accepted their invitation to come back as a volunteer.
Well done Bob.
