Vikings fall to Monticello

The Vikings only had one game last week, and it was a tough loss to a really good Monticello team on Thursday, April 25.

Andrew Orf took the mound for the Vikings and despite giving up a run in the top of the first inning, he settled down after that and got the Vikings to the fifth inning, where they were up 2-1. Things unraveled in the fifth and sixth innings though, as the Magic conjured up three runs in both innings and jumped out to a 7-2 lead.

North Branch didn’t threaten much anymore after that and the Vikes went down to Monticello. The Magic did the little things right, while the Vikings made the mistakes at Monti capitlized on.

NB had three errors on the night and allowed seven walks and four stolen bases.

Monticello’s Brock Holthaus didn’t get a hit, but was on base three times from walks. Caden King, Easton Peters and Cale Holthaus then did the damage, combining to go seven-for-10 with two RBIs, two walks, and three runs.
