North Branch MidSummer Days celebration will feature fireworks, June 21.  The agreement was approved by city council last week after a delay, when residents of a development nearby the fireworks launch area had issues with the usually Fourth of July display. They spoke at the last council meeting in late April saying they wanted the shooting-off spot near the middle school, moved.

North Branch Fire Chief Pat Heinen told council last week he met with the state fire marshal, there were  on-site measurements and observations made, the fireworks provider gave assurances on safety of their production logistics and, the chief added, 21 of 27 property owners in the development expressed no problem with fireworks.

Heinen said fire personnel are stationed at the perimeter of the launch area and it is “standard procedure” to be at the ready for any mishaps.

The city is using a new company Minnesota Pyrotechnics LLC this year and council heard their references were spotless.
