Albert “Jack” Cebery was born on June 24, 1933 in Phillips, Wisconsin to parents Andrew and Anna Cebery. He was known as Jack to most, passed away on November 12, 2024 at the age of 91.
Jack was raised on the family farm on Danish Settlement Road. He attended Arbutus Hill School in the town of Elk. As a young man he held many jobs along with farming. One of his first was pin setter at the Phillips Bowling Alley, also laborer at the Catawba Elementary School and Phillips Amory. Along with farming he logged and eventually found his way to working for Boyd’s Mason Lake Resort where he often said it was the best job he ever had. As his family grew, he explored another line of work, Road Construction. Starting with Alexander Construction as a heavy equipment operator and then ending his career with Shafer Construction as a foreman and finally superintendent.
Retiring in 2000 he found enjoyment in some travel, fishing in Arkansas, wintering in Arizona and visiting friends in Louisiana. His real love was collecting old tractors and vintage heavy equipment. He always made time for a garden, coffee with friends, to watch whatever wildlife passed by the window and his four companions.
Before moving from the Phillips area, he also was instrumental in the forming of the Chaparrals Snowmobile Club and was a member of St. Patrick’s Parish.
Jack is preceded in death by his wife Beverly; daughter Christine; parents Andrew and Anna; and all his siblings: Joe, Mike, Eddie, Pauline, and Helen; and also his faithful companions Dino, Peanut, Sparky I and Sparky II.
He is survived by his children Al (Jennifer) and their children Scott and Andrew of Amery, Wisconsin, Laura of Lino Lakes, Minnesota, Connie (Buck) of Chisago City, Minnesota, Scott of Phillips, Wisconsin, and Rox (Loren) of Livingston, Texas; and many nieces and nephews. Special thank you to Judy, Ron, Theresa, Dave, Beth, Steve, Bobby, Pat, and Olivia who always remembered him.
A Remembrance gathering will be held at a later date with a private graveside service in Phillips, Wisconsin. Arrangements are with Grandstrand Funeral Home, Osceola, WI. Condolences may be expressed online at www.grandstrandfh.com.
