The construction season for 2025 is already taking shape with the award last week of the County Highway 30 (Forest Blvd) improvement project to Knife River Corp. At $6,586, 316 it was low bid out of 13 bids opened, Assistant County Engineer Ben Hobert told the County Board the project came in under what was expected. He said the department is hoping other upcoming project bid solicitations attract good competitive bids as well.
The improvements begin at Athens Trail in Stacy and end just south of Hwy 95 in North Branch. The City of North Branch is cost sharing on a “Safe Routes to School” trail segment from the library northward, a roundabout at 377th and other portions of the work. (See graphic.)
Depending on weather and road weight restrictions, the project should get underway in spring 2025.
Another County Road project bid is being awarded in early December, for #16 in the area of County Road 71 to CSAH 12. This is a seven and one-quarter mile long reconditioning.
Hobert assured county commissioners the work will be required to be complete in time for next year’s triathlon event.
