Cheryl Ann Hanson Ryman blessed our family with her arrival on March 3, 1962 sharing love, kindness, and great spirit with every person and animal she knew. 

She started to feel ill on September 13th while on a trip to visit stepdaughter Sara and her grandchildren Marisol and Jasper. She went to the hospital in Hastings on September 27 where she was sent to United Hospital in St. Paul.  This was when she was diagnosed with a rare very aggressive cancer that could not be treated. Thankfully she didn’t suffer for long. Husband Jack, sister Charlotte, and mother-in-law Mary had the privilege of being with her at the time of her passing at 3:20 a.m. October 3, 2024.

Cheryl is survived by her husband, Jack Ryman, stepdaughter Sara Jungroth, grandchildren Marisol and Jasper, mother Dorothy Lilygren, aunt Delores Huber, sisters Laura Wellens, Marcia Brittan, Donna Hanson, Charlotte Nowakowski, and Cindy Hanson; nieces and nephews Sandra Shaw, Victoria King, Sarah Shaw, Acie Williams, Jodie Brittan, Shawnna Jaeger, Steven Jaeger, Michael Edsten, Charles Edsten, Richard Edsten, Jessica Nelson, Sarah Hanson, Jason Rowe, Brayden Rowe, Landon Rowe, Seth Peterson, Kinsley, and baby Peterson yet to be born

Cheryl was met in heaven by her father Albert Hartley Hanson, grandmothers Clara Hanson and Bertha Beem, grandfathers Hartley Hanson and William Gerres.

Cheryl graduated in 1980 from North Branch Senior High. She worked at Green Acres Nursing Home for a while after graduation until she decided to take courses at 916 Technical College. This led to her getting a position at 3M where she worked for 39 years. She was in the international customer assistance department before she and many fellow employees were laid off. She then got a position with Walmart in Hastings where she was promoted to liquor department manager just before her illness set in.

She loved country music, dancing, and partying with friends and family. Her home was always warm, inviting, and welcoming to whomever she knew. We are sure she has already become best friends with everyone in heaven.

She enjoyed keeping wherever she was neat and clean so when she arrived in heaven, she will have found a brand new Rainbow vacuum cleaner and gone to work cleaning up the place even asking God to move his feet.

Cheryl’s sudden departure has left a large hole in our lives. We are hoping we will all fill that hole with the example of love that Cheryl was/is.

While thinking of my girls this morning I heard her say that whatever has happened in the past doesn’t matter anymore. If we need to process something from the past that is ok. Let us help each other do what we need to let things go so we can love each other as best we can now.

At Cheryl’s request, we are putting together a celebration of life on October 26 at 2 p.m. at Cheryl and Jack’s place. It will be a potluck, so we are asking that all who come to participate bring a dish to share. There will be music, dancing, and sharing the loving memories of our beloved Cheryl Ryman.
