Two North Branch police officers were recognized by their Chief of Police Dan Meyer, at the start of last week’s city council meeting.

They were awarded the lifesaving bar-pin to wear on their uniform and a plaque.  Officer Mike Nelson’s swift and skilled response to a call July 3,  was instrumental in saving a customer who collapsed in County Market.  The subject was airlifted for medical care and is doing well now.  Sgt. Dave Janssen rendered first aid to a person May 21, who had lacerated their arm and was being transported in a private vehicle. Sgt. Janssen caught up with the car and it was his tourniquet application and subsequent emergency care that earned him a nomination for the award from Lakes Region EMS.
