Girls play hard for the upset, but fall short in OT against Totino
Totino-Grace 1, Chisago Lakes 0
The third-seeded Wildcats travelled to Totino-Grace High School to take on the second-seeded Eagles in a Section 4AA semifinal game last Thursday, October 10. The teams played scoreless soccer through regulation and headed to overtime. 20 seconds into the first overtime, Eagle Emi Swan threaded a pass through a small gap in the Wildcat defense and Camille Friden scored to end the game, a 1-0 sudden death win for the Eagles. Wildcat head coach Wayne Kugel said “We played amazing soccer and stayed firmly competitive with Totino-Grace in both halves of regulation. The quick goal in overtime was heartbreaking.” On Tuesday earlier this week, the Eagles lost 2-0 to the third-ranked Mahtomedi Zephyrs in the section championship game.
