Oktoberfest this Saturday

Good grief what a slap in the face this week has been temperature wise.  Last Thursday we took the boat out and putted around the lake in our t-shirts.  Now, I am embarrassed to admit, we have been running our furnace here at the Press. Follow that up with mid seventies that are predicted by Friday of this week.  Make up your mind Minnesota...

This Saturday Nic and Sarah who run the Nordic Harbor Market in Center City are hosting their first ever Oktoberfest. You will be treated to authentic german food, fun and games including hammerschlagen and bean bags, and of course german beer.  All ages are invited and the event runs from 3-6pm. See you there.

If you have been looking to learn more about the congressional race candidates, you are in luck. Congressman Pete Stauber and his opponent Jen Schultz have agreed to a debate on WDIO Duluth. I know, I know, Duluth down here? Yes, you can tune in October 22 at 6:20pm to WDIO.com and watch the stream of the debate.

Thanks so much to Rob and Brian for delivering the last load of clothing for the homeless.  They took a sprinter van filled to the roof with clothing that you have generously donated to the homeless.  This community never ceases to amaze me when it comes to giving.  You can still drop your warm gently used items off here at the Press and we will ensure they make it to some very needy Minnesotans.

Last week I forgot to wish my favorite person Happy Birthday.  Sue Wilson turned 90 last week. She has been such an important person in my life.  Happy Birthday Sue - here’s to many more!
