Ready for this to be over with
This is my most hated time of the year (easily). I am referring to election time. It seems everyone has a high level of anxiety when it comes time for political races. I think it’s wonderful the community is so involved in politics, as we always should be. But the aspect that I am referring to is the negative side of things. The sign stealing (both sides), the idiotic social media posts (by both sides), and of course my favorite - the threats that we get daily here at the paper. Yes threats. I have been sworn at, yelled at, told I am worthless, and of course the paper is terrible. And that’s just this week.
I was never told about this time of the year before I took the job. It is a test in patience to put it lightly. When people ask how I respond to these threats I tell them what I told a person yesterday - if you are so bothered by what’s in the paper and want it changed, get out your checkbook and make me an offer.
Remember folks we have some great Halloween events in our area.
Chisago City is hosting the popular Ojiketa Haunt that will run through this weekend. Remember to bring a non-perishable food item to get a $2 discount.
Parents, this Saturday, grab the younger kiddies and their Halloween costumes and head to Ojiketa for the less scary event compared to the Haunt. The annaul Falloween spectacular runs from 2-4pm this Saturday and is jam packed with stuff for the kids. Pony rides, games, snacks, a magic show, a not-so-scary haunted house, a costume contest, pumpkin hunt and cabin trick-or-treating. Been there many times, your kids will love it - I promise.
