MNDOT announced the northbound lanes of I-35 in the Stacy area were closed Monday (Sept. 9) for emergency responders to work on a gas leak. The exit at #19 and ramps at Athens Trail (#17) were shut down beginning about 11:30 a.m. and reopened a few hours later.
September 8
Around 8 a.m. deputies were sent to a car in a ditch at Oasis and 318th Street. The driver was transported to Fairview Lakes for medical attention. Preliminary information is the car went off into the right side ditch as it travelled north on County Road 9, the driver tried to back out and went into the other ditch and the vehicle was there when authorities arrived.
September 7
A three vehicle crash is being written up by state patrol, details were unavailable. There was one car eastbound on Hwy. 8 at Irene Avenue by the Chisago Lakes Middle School, about 3:40 p.m. when it appeared it crossed over and hit a car coming in the other lane and a third vehicle got entangled.
September 5
A suspect in a domestic assault fled hid in an attic at Oakview Court townhomes in North Branch and North Branch called in county SWAT and drone teams to assist in apprehending the suspect. The incident was happening around 7:40 p.m.
It was learned the attic wall between the townhomes was broken through and the fleeing suspect was found in the vacant attached unit. The authorities were able to capture 42-year-old Lloyd Beseke who police chief Meyer said has been charged with felony burglary and domestic assault.
North Branch Police were helping seek a vehicle involved in an alleged hit and run west of I-35 on #95, about 6:30 p.m. No details available.
Around noon time Lakes Area Police got a call that a toddler was having a seizure at Camp Ojiketa. Lakes Region EMS was sent and checked the child and the mother transported the youth for care.
September 4
Fire call on 443rd in Harris. County aided in traffic control. No details.
A bear was struck by a car on Rainbow Avenue and 310th in rural Shafer. Reported approximately 6 a.m. Bear was stunned but didn’t die on scene. Car was towed.
