Hunters chase down Wildcats
Duluth Denfeld 8, Chisago Lakes 2
The Duluth Denfeld Hunters broke open a close game with six runs in the bottom of the fifth and beat the Wildcats 8-2 Friday, April 18 at historic Wade Stadium in Duluth. Zander Bleymeyer started and took the loss for the Wildcats. In 4 1/3 innings, he allowed eight runs – only three earned – on seven hits, walked three and struck out five. The Wildcats managed just four hits in the game. Hunter Starter Nolan Harju nearly had a shutout. With two outs in the top of the seventh, he walked Trenton Travis on four pitches. Brayden Anderson reached on an error and Harju hit Jadon Greene to load the bases. Johnny Scott came in to relieve Harju. On a 3-2 pitch, Kellen Meissner singled to right to drive in two runs. Cole Stilp popped out to end the game, an 8-2 loss for the Wildcats.
Baseball Banter
The Wildcats will head north to Cloquet tomorrow afternoon to take on the Cloquet Lumberjacks at Mettner Field at 4:30 p.m. On Tuesday, April 29 the Wildcats will host the Big Lake Hornets at Pat Collins Field at Chisago Lakes High School at 4:30 p.m. The Wildcats lost 6-2 at Big Lake two weeks ago.
