Stacy Daze has a ton of events

Is it just me or do these summer storms seem to be intensifying? I’m not pretending to be a scientist or a meteorologist, but every rain storm seems to turn into high winds and potential hail.  What happened to the good old garden variety showers?

Thanks to the folks who put on a great Center City Days over the weekend.  There were people everywhere and besides the blast furnace weather, fun was being had by all.  I did not attend the street dance but my son told me the band was great.  I know it gets repetitive, but the folks that work on these festivals all year round for free deserve our thanks.  These things don’t happen overnight.  So thank you to all the volunteers for making our community so great.

Another one of those groups will get their chance to shine this weekend in Stacy.  The City of Stacy invites any and all to the annual Stacy Daze celebration.  The celebration kicks off Friday at 5pm with a super popular car show that last year had the most cars I have ever seen.  The show is next to the fire hall and starts at 5pm.  At 6pm in Lions Park, you are invited to the youth talent show which will also feature a magic show by Magic Norm.

Saturday Lions Park is where Stacy Daze action will be.  They will have inflatables, root beer floats, rock painting, water fights with firemen, balloon artists and live music by Burden of Youth band.  The Stacy Daze Parade will begin by St. John’s Lutheran Church and work its way west to Lions Park around noon.

There is community bingo from 3-6pm at Lions Park with the street dance following featuring NDY.  Fireworks will cap off the weekend at 9:30pm at Lions Park.

Lots to do and so close to home!

We had a chance to get away for a few days with some friends.  These friends were two of the first people my brother and I met when we moved here in 1978.   The four of us have remained close for 46 years and the best part is our spouses have become great friends as well.  Three days of floating and swimming and doing absolutely nothing was beyond enjoyable.

Today my wife and I will celebrate our 30th anniversary.  Not bad for someone who never thought they would marry.  Not bad for Cheryl putting up with me for that long.  Happy anniversary Cheryl - I love you with all of my heart and hoping for 30 more.
