Saturday, August 2, the Chisago Lakes area Wildcat Woods Disc Golf Course held a ribbon cutting ceremony for the new 1.6 mile hiking trail on the property, and also held a disc golf tournament.
The weather was great, and there were 56 disc golf participants!
Located next to the Chisago Joint Sewage Treatment Commission’s site and the Compost Site, the 18-hole disc golf course is of moderate difficulty, featuring both flat and hilly terrain. The Sewer Commission leased land (at no cost) to the North Branch Disc Golf Association last year for the development of this new course.
The NBDGA is a non-profit, and has been instrumental in starting and/or expanding multiple disc golf courses starting with Harder park in North Branch. The City of Lindström’s EDA and other surrounding cities also supported the project.
Association organizer John Santi says, “Disc golf is easy to learn, inexpensive, and can be a lifetime sport. The Wildcat Woods Disc Golf Course is FREE to play- just bring your own discs!”
Wildcat Woods Disc Golf Course is looking for four individuals or families who would like to adopt a quarter mile section of the hiking trail. You would pick up sticks after a storm and cut back some of the trees that grow during the year.
They are also looking for seven businesses that want to be a basket sponsor, for $350, this includes a lifetime basket sponsorship which includes the business name on a sign posted with the hole sign.
If interested in sponsoring a section of hiking trail or basket sponsorship, please call John Santi at 612-231-3812.
