Joshua Brown

Joshua Richard Brown passed away unexpectedly from an unknown medical event August 11, 2025 at the age of 41. Josh was born in Rochester, Minnesota and attended high school in Forest Lake, Minnesota. Josh worked hard and achieved Eagle Scout during this time. He furthered his education at the Minnesota School of Business earning a degree in Criminal Justice.

In 2000 Josh started his career by enlisting in the Army National Guard and served on active duty from 2005 to 2007 where he was deployed to both Bosnia and Iraq. He had a total of eight years of military service and was awarded 10 medals over this time.

Josh dedicated his career to public service, working at the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis, Minnesota, the Wyoming, Minnesota Police Department and eventually transferring to the Forest Lake, Minnesota Police Department. During this time as an officer, he was also a member of the Chisago and Washington County Minnesota SWAT teams. He was recognized for his commitment to excellence while he served on the Washington County Weapons & Tactics team as an Operator Sniper. If you knew Josh, you knew nothing made him prouder than to serve his country and his community. Josh led with positive intent while keeping a close watch on those he loved the most. Josh dedicated 10 ½ years of his life serving as a MN Police Officer. The friendships he made are vast and the connections even deeper to those he served alongside.

Joshua was a member of the Rainy River First Nation (Ojibwe), something he was proud of and held close to his heart. Outside of his professional life, nothing made Joshua happier than spending time with his beautiful wife, amazing children and extended family. Josh enjoyed traveling, weight training (recently competing in his first body building competition) and going to the shooting range to develop his marksmanship.

Josh is survived by his wife, Jennifer who he met in 2019 and married in 2020, the true love of his life. The memories that were created in the last six years together will last a life time. Josh was also a very proud father to Calian, Elora, Ethan (Miranda), and Ryan (Bella) and grandson, Noah. He found great joy in the simple pleasures of being a father. From bringing Calian to martial arts lessons, to Elora and her dreams of being a gymnast, nothing made him prouder or happier. Josh also found a great connection with Ethan and Ryan in sharing military service stories and the love of marksmanship. His time with his children was meaningful, impactful and represented a true love between a father and his children.

Josh is also survived by his parents Richard and Angela Brown, Daniel (Vickie) Williams, and Dawn Allore; brothers Jake (LeAnne) Brown and Grant Williams; sisters Kayla (Brandon) Browne, Christina (Thomas) Vale, and Tiffany (Trevor) Mangels; his maternal grandfather  George Schwartz and paternal grandfather Gerald Williams and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Vija Schwartz and paternal grandparents, Charlie and Agnes Brown and Marie Ragland.

Josh will be greatly missed as he loved big, served with purpose, and loved all with a full heart!

A visitation was held from 4-8 p.m., Monday, August 18, 2025 at Maranatha Church, 24799 Forest Blvd., Wyoming, Minnesota. Funeral Services were 11a.m., Tuesday at the church with a visitation one hour prior. Private interment will be held at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.  Memorials may be directed to the family for designation at a later date.
