Chisago Lakes 3, South St. Paul 0

The Wildcat volleyball team opened the season at South Saint Paul on Thursday, August 21 with a clean sweep against the Packers. The Cats went 25-22, 25-15, and 25-22. The JV, B-Squad, 9A, & 9B teams all also won in straight sets. It was a fantastic start to what's sure to be a season of success for the Wildcats!

Missing notable offensive contributor Mariah Cave to an injury was a concern, but the talent on the 'Cats varsity roster proved flexible. "I'm proud of the way many stepped up to an unexpected lineup and proved grit in adversity," said Coach Lindstrom.

Impressive stats on the night include senior outside hitter Kate Friedner with 16 kills, sophomore setter Kianna Osmundson with 24 assists, sophomore libero Olivia Anderson with 16 digs, and junior right side hitter Linnea Carlson with 11 blocks. Anderson had an incredible first varsity start, and will be a key contributor in the Wildcats success this season. Junior Eliana Taylor and senior Isabel Benolken had fantastic first varsity matches as well.

Tiger Invitational at Rush City

The 'Cats traveled to the Tiger Invitational for four matches on Friday, August 22nd and to Mahtomedi on Monday, August 25th. Their home opener will be Wednesday, August 27th against Camden High School. 

The Wildcat volleyball team took an impressive 2nd place at the Tiger Invitational on Friday, August 25th. The team took wins against Litchfield (25-18, 27-15), Coon Rapids (25-16, 25-16), and Proctor (25-20, 25-20). Taking first in their pool, they advanced to the championship match against 2024 Class AA runner-up Rush City where they dropped a nail-biting match 22-25, 23-25.

Impressive stats on the four match day include senior Kate Friedner with 24 kills and 23 digs, senior Kayla Larsen with 20 kills and 35 digs, and sophomore Olivia Anderson with 34 digs and 46 receptions. The team is still missing senior Mariah Cave due to injury.

The Cats will play in Mahtomedi on Monday, August 25 and host their home opener on Wednesday, August 27 against Camden High School. More details can be found at www.chisagolakesvolleyball.com.
