Dickey’s BBQ awards grant to NBPD for e-bikes

The Dickey Foundation, the charitable arm of Dickey’s Barbecue Pit, presented a $10,000 grant to the North Branch Police Department to fund the purchase of two state-of-the-art electric bicycles (e-bikes).

Pictured are the two NB officers who will man the e-bikes Jesse Zajac (far left) and Tyler Lawson (far right). They flank local North Branch Dickey’s owners Hannah Ovik and Tim and Sue Davis, as well as Senior Director of Public Relations for Dickey’s Louisa Garrett. Ovik and the North Branch Dickey’s was the main driver behind getting the grant locally.

“We are always looking for ways to connect more with community and we’ve wanted to have e-bikes for a while, but it just hasn’t happened,” NB Police Chief Dan Meyer said. Officer Zajac added, “This allows us to get out from behind our windshields and have more face to face time with our community and strengthen the bonds with our community. We can’t extend enough gratitude towards our local Dickey’s and their foundation for this grant.”
