Chisago Lakes has staff to assist in processing Minneapolis incident
The Chisago Lakes Schools superintendent extended an invitation immediately following the Minneapolis shooting incident, suggesting that ISD 2144 students who feel “anxious or unsettled” to reach out to their child’s school officials for assistance. Supt. Brian Dietz said there are appointments with counselors available ahead of the start of school Sept 2 and support teams are ready to assist. There will be counseling staff on hand upon the start of school as well.
Dietz stated, “While this tragedy (at Annunciation Church and school campus) did not take place in our community...please know that we are here for you and that the safety and wellbeing of our students and staff remain a top priority.”
The Chisago Lakes District has “strong partnerships” with area law enforcement and “collaboratively, we constantly review and reinforce our safety protocols across every one of our schools. We are committed to providing every student with a safe, secure and welcoming learning environment,” he concluded.
Dietz reminds community members if they know of concerning behaviors being exhibited, to report the information and help those needing assistance. The 988 mental health crisis number is also an option which you can call or text and get support.
