Wildcat boys hockey take two
CL 3, Hastings 0
Zach Carlson scored twice and goalie Jacob Schaeppi stopped all 20 shots he faced to lead the Wildcat boy’s hockey team to a 3-0 win over the Hastings Raiders on Tuesday, December 16 at Chisago Lakes Arena.
Carlson opened the scoring at 4:45 of the first period, assisted by Quin Ryan and Asheton Warnke. Four minutes later, Landon Kerkow scored to double the Wildcat lead to 2-0, with assists going to Max Koch and Nick Hansen. Carlson scored the game’s final goal just over two minutes into the second period. Ryan and Jacob Kletti got the assists. The Wildcats outshot the Raiders 28-20 for the game. Schaeppi’s shutout was his third of the season.
Chisago Lakes 7, Becker/Big Lake 4
After the Becker/Big Lake Eagles scored to cut the Wildcat lead to 5-4 four minutes into the third period, the Wildcats pulled starting goalie Ethan Carlson and put regular starter Jacob Schaeppi into the game. Schaeppi stopped the three shots he faced, and the Wildcats scored two late goals to beat the Eagles, 7-4 on Thursday, December 18 at Chisago Lakes Arena. The home fans were treated to an offensive barrage by the Wildcats, who outshot Becker/Big Lake 63-15 for the game. Dylan Cuffel had a goal and two assists for his first three career points for the Wildcats.
Nick Hansen led the way with four points for the Wildcats on two goals and two assists. Playmaker Landon Kerkow had three assists, and Zach Carlson notched a goal and two assists. Colton Whiterabbit scored two goals, and Max Koch tallied two assists. Jacob Kletti had the Wildcats’ other goal, and Ashton Warnke, Austin Slettom, and Nolan LeVasseur each had one assist.
Hockey Hullaballoo
The Wildcats (6-2-2) are ranked 15th in the state in Class A. Max Koch is tied for 11th in the state with 16 assists.
The Wildcats will play the Totino-Grace Eagles on Tuesday, December 30 at the Brooklyn Park Community Center at 3 p.m. The Wildcats used to play the Eagles regularly when they were in the North Suburban Conference and the Wildcats have never beaten the Eagles.
