St. Paul Johnson Triangular

The Wildcat wrestling team is still working its way toward fielding full lineup but is competitive in the actual matches wrestled. In the dual at St. Paul Johnson on Thursday, December 18, Johnson took advantage of five forfeits and beat the Wildcats 45-30.  But if the five Wildcat forfeits are taken out, the Wildcats outscored Johnson 30-15 in live matches.

St. Agnes Quadrangular

Against the Central Public Schools at the St. Agnes Quadrangular, the Wildcats trailed 30-28 going into the 285-pound match.  Cody Bohlmann of Central Public Schools pinned Matt Raboin at 331 to seal the 36-28 win for Central Public Schools.

Facing host team St. Agnes, the Wildcats trailed 35-24 after the 172-pound match.  But Luke Grabow (189), Connor Bresnahan (215), and Matt Raboin (285) all pinned their opponents to give the Wildcats a 42-35 win.

In the three duals wrestled over the course of two days, freshman Grant Hansen was the only Wildcat to go 3-0, pinning two of his opponents – including one in just 16 seconds – and winning the other matchup by forfeit.

Wrestling Whangdoodles

The Wildcats will take some time off for the Christmas break.  Both the boys and girls will be back in action on Saturday, January 3.  The boys will participate in the six team St. Paul Harding Tournament, with the action getting underway at 9:30 a.m.  Meanwhile, the girls will wrestle at the St. James Tournament, with matches starting at 9 a.m.
