The intersection at Highways 8 and 95 in Taylors Falls was blocked for a few hours Tuesday, February 18.
State Patrol was dispatched about 4:15 p.m.to investigate a commercial vehicle (flatbed trailer/semi) that was unable to move due to its load shifting as the driver navigated the turn from westbound Highway 8 to northbound main street.
The public information officer for the state patrol said the incident is still being investigated and only basic details could be provided.
The driver, Zachary Schroll, 36, from Ohio, told authorities the load was a reactor pipe for a coal mine. The state patrol did not report where the load originated. The massive pipe shifted and Schroll stopped the rig, fearing it might fall.
Chisago County patrol deputies were also on-hand for about three hours, and directed traffic until the cargo was secured and the truck could move and free-up the downtown intersection.
