Bruce was the eldest of three brothers, a man whose life was defined by hard work, dedication to his family, and a zest for life’s adventures. A proud graduate of St. Louis Park High School, Bruce went on to attend Dunwoody Institute, where he honed the skills that launched a 40-year career as a union pipefitter. From job sites on the Iron Range to a school just 100 yards from his front door, Bruce’s craftsmanship and commitment left a lasting mark across the state of Minnesota.
It was along this journey that Bruce met Susan, the love of his life. Married for over 54 years, Bruce and Susan built a life filled with love, laughter, and partnership, raising three sons: Jesse (Brandi), Jeremiah (Julie), and Samuel (Alyssa).
Bruce was a man of many talents and passions. An avid outdoorsman, he passed his love of hunting, fishing, and trapping to his sons, creating memories that will endure for generations. As a young man, Bruce also had a passion for cars, especially his prized 1967 Butternut Yellow Chevrolet 427SS, which he bought new as a young pipefitter.
Above all, Bruce’s greatest pride and joy was being a devoted husband and father. After long days on job sites, he always made time to play catch, shoot hoops, or share wrestling tips with his boys. At home, his resourcefulness was unmatched—whether mastering household repairs, supporting Susan’s business ventures, or contributing to their community by helping build playgrounds or working a cap gun booth at local events.
Bruce was also known for his quick wit and captivating storytelling. His tales were often hilarious, sometimes exaggerated, and always entertaining—a hallmark of his personality that endeared him to everyone he met.
In retirement, Bruce and Susan embraced the best of both worlds, spending winters in warm climates and savoring Minnesota’s springs, summers, and falls. Whether relaxing at their Johnsonville camp on Susan’s family farm, hunting at the northwoods cabin with his boys, or cheering on Minnesota’s sports teams, Bruce loved every moment.
He took immense joy in being “Grandpa” to Zoie (Brady), Elli, Jada, Henry, and Violet, sharing endless patience and affection during cherished days of daycare—often accompanied by plenty of SpongeBob.
As a great-grandfather to Lilah, Ivy, Wilder, and Raven, Bruce’s legacy of love extended even further.
Bruce passed away peacefully and unexpectedly from an aneurysm, surrounded by his beloved wife, sons, and daughters-in-law.
He was preceded in death by his father, A. Walter; his mother, Mildred; and his stepmother, Evi.
Bruce was truly one of a kind—his warmth, humor, and kindness will be deeply missed by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
A celebration of Bruce’s life will be held in the summer of 2025.
