Agnes “Ronnie” Hunt

Agnes "Ronnie" Helen Minnie Carrie Totten (Rahn) Hunt, of North Branch, MN, passed away on Dec. 30, 2024 at age 99 surrounded by some of her loved ones and went to join her awaiting angels. In spite of all her given names, Agnes was known all of her life as Ronnie by her friends and Toots by her family. Ronnie was born in Rosemount, MN on April 6, 1925 to Albert and Emily (Scherer) Rahn. She was the daughter of German immigrants, who farmed nearby in what today is Eagan.

She attended Rosemount School until 1936, when her father died. Upon moving to St. Paul, where her mother could find work, she attended Mechanic Arts High School, from where she graduated. She loved riding horses, was active with various clubs in high school, including organizing dances for the military boys during WWII. Ronnie wore many hats and her accomplishments were numerous as a mother and grandmother, community leader, and church member. She raised a wonderful family of two boys (Noel, James) and two girls (Judi, Thais) during her marriage to Noel Totten. Later, after her marriage to a widower, Bernard "Bernie" Hunt, three more boys (Gary, Dale, Jim) joined the family fun.

While living and raising a family in Coon Rapids, she was a circulation manager for the St. Paul Pioneer Press. Then, she joined the Star Tribune. For both, she managed a large fleet of newspaper delivery persons for over 22 years.

After her move to North Branch, she became an entrepreneur. First, she owned and operated Leisure Time Fabrics. Then, for the next 18 years, she was the owner of Treasure Hunt Antiques. She sold all kinds of antiques, books about antiques, was an appraiser and a community teacher of antiques. She was very active in the St. Croix Doll Club, as well as the Minnesota and National Button Society. She volunteered many hours writing articles for various newspapers in the Washington & Chisago County areas, as well as for Parents without Partners.

She was a passionate and avid traveler, as well as an incredible fountain of factual and historical information. She could tell you almost anything you wanted to know about living during colonial to modern day history. One of her favorite pastimes was when she participated and helped dress people for parts in reenactments of historical days. She was a member of several historical society clubs in different counties, in which she was involved in setting up historic displays at county fairs, local libraries, and businesses. She was honored and recognized as Chisago County Historical Society "Person of the Year" in the mid-2010s. She was instrumental in the historic restoration of Fish Lake Lutheran Church, which is a unique Swedish church founded in 1867, in (Stark, MN) Harris, MN. She was so proud to research and help restore it to its original historic grandeur.

For nearly 50 years, she hosted family and friends for an annual Christmas Day dinner at her historic home. The events often lasted all day. She enjoyed meeting people and caring about them. She also knew she never walked alone, that God was always with her.

Ronnie is preceded in death by her parents Albert and Emily Rahn, sister Mildred "Millie" Oden (Gordon Oden), her beloved husband Bernard "Bernie" Hunt, daughter Thais (Totten) Hinz, son Gary Hunt, daughter-in-law Cynthia Totten; son-in-law John Jackson, and great-grandson, Josiah Jackson.

She is survived by sons Noel Totten Jr, James (Claire) Totten, Dale Hunt, Jim (Cathy) Hunt; daughter Judi Jackson, daughter-in-law, Gayle Hunt, and son-in-law, Marty Hinz.
