Center City Council briefs...
Center City Council met for January 7. Newly elected member Sally Swanson (pictured right) was sworn in replacing Ryan Pease who did not seek re-election. Council member Lloyd Vetter attended virtually.
In old business, the council was informed that Hursh Ironworks had another complaint on New Year's Day for noise. Council then was told by city clerk Dana Miron the Busch Avenue property had not been demolished because city attorney Ted Alliegro was waiting to hear from the Attorney General how to proceed.
The council then made their committee appointments as follows: Budget - Mayor Jill Behnke and Lloyd Vetter, HPC (historical preservation committee) - Jill Behnke and Sally Swanson, Hwy 8 Task Force - Lloyd Vetter and Mark Wolcott, Joint Sewer - Lloyd Better, Library - Lloyd Vetter, Ordinance Committee - Mark Wolcott and Jill Behnke, Parks - Jill Behnke and Garrett Boulineau, Personnel - Jill Behnke and Lloyd Vetter, Planning Commission - Jill Behnke and Sally Swanson, Safety Committee - Lloyd Vetter and Jill Behnke, Sexual Harassment Committee - Jill Behnke and Lloyd Vetter, Visitor Bureau - Jill Behnke.
In the clerk’s report, Miron told the council the city has received seven bids for the city attorney position of which none are from the area. Council agreed to have current attorney Ted Alliegro take a look and give his opinion on the seven.
Miron then told the council the city has had a few requests for auto withdrawal payments from residents for their water bills. Council agreed to have Miron contact Lindstrom to see what this service entails and costs if any.
Council was then told the fire department did take possession of the new grass rig and will be outfitting it over the winter months and it should be ready by spring.
Lastly, council was informed of two interested parties that have inquired about lots in the County Seat industrial park. They are currently working with Chisago County EDA/HRA.
