Vikings wallop St. Paul Tech
Undefeated Viking senior Evan Pommier continued to leave a trail of carnage in his wake as he won three more matches last week to raise his record to a perfect 22-0 on the season. Pommier, ranked seventh in the state at 172 pounds in Class AA, pinned Shawn Henderson of Cambridge-Isanti at 1:17 last Thursday at the North Branch Triangular. He followed that up with a 21-5 technical fall over Noah Ballweber of Princeton, finishing off Ballweber with 14 seconds left in the match. The next night, again at the Vikings’ home gym, Pommier won by technical fall over Jau Nah Htoo of St. Paul Washington Technology Magnet School, amassing five takedowns and a four point near fall to steamroll Htoo 19-4 in one two-minute period.
As a team, the Vikings lost both duals in their triangular, losing 54-12 to Cambridge-Isanti and falling 49-20 to Princeton. They came back to crush St. Paul Washington Technology Magnet School 58-12 the next night.
Ethan Kester (145) also went 3-0 for the Vikings last week He started with a 10-4 decision over Reshard Cronemiller of Cambridge-Isanti. He went on to prevail over Robert Davidson of Princeton in a tight 3-1 decision. And he finished the week by pinning Enrique Gonzalez-Rivera of St. Paul Washington Technology Magnet School with three seconds left in the first period. Two other Vikings went 2-1 over the stretch of three matches. Jack Baker (121) lost by a 4-1 decision to Grady Jennissen of Cambridge-Isanti. He came back to pin Kathryn Marstein of Princeton and won by fall over Mong Zong Yang of St. Paul Washington Technology Magnet School in a quick 25 seconds. Aiden Schwartz (139) opened with an 8-4 decision over Ruger Block of Cambridge-Isanti. Schwartz was pinned by Levi Thompson of Princeton, but came back to pin Hsa Mue Lay of St. Paul Washington Technology Magnet School at 2:34.

Wrestling Whangdoodles
The Vikings will head to Becker High School today for a triangular with Becker and Big Lake, starting at 5 p.m. And on Saturday, they will wrestle in the 13-team St. Croix Lutheran Tournament, with matches starting at 9:30 a.m.
