Arctic weather blamed for water pipe break impacting Hazelden campus in Center City
The subzero temps January 20 and 21 caused a waterline serving the Hazelden Betty Ford campus in Center City to freeze and break. Water was disrupted to the facility as repair crews were brought in to do their work starting Tuesday afternoon. Ginger Plumbo, of Hazelden Betty Ford external communications, said staff who are able to work from home were asked to do so. She added that the patient care was unaffected and water supplies and restroom facilities (portable) retained availability through “other sources.”
All the Center City campus water was restored by end of day Jan. 21. Some site cleanup was ongoing Wednesday this week.
