Glad this cold is over with
Good grief that was some serious cold we just endured. We went out Saturday and did our shopping for the week and spent the rest of the weekend hunkered down with the fire burning all weekend. What I couldn’t believe was the number of fishermen and women that were out on the ice chasing the ever-elusive walleye. I absolutely got chills watching them tromp around on the ice while I sipped on my ice cold beer. Wait.. maybe the beer gave me the chills.
Mark your calendars, the Celebration of the Lakes is just around the corner. One of my favorite celebrations in our area, this year’s event runs February 9-11 and is jam packed with fun outdoors (some indoors) activities. It will be held on North Center and South Lindstrom Lakes with events also taking place all over the Chisago Lakes community.
I will write more in the weeks to come, but how does a candlelit walk in Allemansratt Park sound? How about a pond hockey tournament? A kids’ movie night, or a fashion show featuring a Hawaiian theme?
There will be a pickleball tournament once again, the cars will also be racing on the ice this year. As well as everybody’s favorite, the radar runs. See the cold weather did benefit us...
You can purchase your atv raffle tickets at the Chisago Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce until they run out. This year there will be fireworks on S. Lindstrom Lake on Feb. 10. The Lions will once again be hosting their very popular fishing contest this year as well. Oh, I almost forgot, the Chisago Lakes Rotary Club is happy to announce they will be hosting their ice carousel this year. It will be on South Lindstrom Lake and will be available for rides Saturday from 10am to 4pm.
Check out next week’s Press for all the details. This is going to be a great weekend for fun.
We were able to bring a full load of warm clothes down to the homeless Saturday morning, just in time before the deep freeze. The group that disperses the clothing wanted me to say thank you to all who have given.
Quick update on my plantar fasciitis. I tried getting massages (mostly on calves and feet) and lo and behold, the fasciitis has diminished. If you have it (I can sympathize), give a massage a try.
