Chisago Lakes winding down regular season
Chisago Lakes 4, Northern Tier 4
The Wildcat girls’ hockey team and the Northern Tier Stars skated to a 4-4 overtime tie Wednesday, January 22 at Chisago Lakes Arena.
With the Wildcats trailing 1-0 early in the first period, Lauren Schmidt scored to tie it up at 6:26, assisted by Lexi Smothers and Kali Hanson. Two minutes later, the Wildcats took the lead on a goal by Brynn Secor, with the assists going to Allie Smothers and Aven Lyckholm. The Wildcats stretched their lead to two goals at 1:37 of the second period when Nora DeVries put on in the back of the net. Secor and Camryn Hinsch got the assists. The Stars scored three straight, taking a 4-3 at the ten-minute mark of the third period. But Lyckholm scored just 12 seconds later to tie the game at 4-4. Neither team scored for the rest of regulation or overtime and had to settle for a tie.
Breck 5, Chisago Lakes 0
The Wildcats were shut out 5-0 by the sixth-ranked Breck Mustangs on Thursday, January 23 at the Breck School Anderson Ice Arena.
The Wildcats kept it close for much of the game, trailing 2-0 after two periods. But the Mustangs scored three times in a five-minute stretch midway through the third period to put the game out of reach.
Breck outshot the Wildcats 34-16 for the game.
Hockey Hullaballoo
The Wildcats (7-14-1) have just two games left in the regular season. They will head to the Pine City Civic Center tonight to take on the Dragons at 7 p.m. And on Saturday, they will play the Hutchinson Tigers at Burich Arena in Hutchinson in a matinee starting at 1 p.m.
