Irondale Team Tournament

The Wildcats participated in the Irondale Team Tournament last Thursday, January 23.  They opened with a 60-16 loss to Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City.  In their next dual, the Wildcats lost to Ogilvie 45-27.   In their final match of the day, the Wildcats beat tournament hosts Irondale 37-34 to claim seventh place.

The Wildcats trailed Irondale 28-18 heading into the 160 pound match.  Braxton Bender-Ehlke (160) pinned Muad Abdirahman at 1:58 to cut the Irondale lead to 28-24.  In the key match of the day, Diesel Lundeen (172) outlasted Anthony Suedback of Irondale, and Irondale now led just 28-27.  After Kyler Johnson (189) of Irondale pinned Wildcat Lucas Grabow at 4:00, Irondale’s lead was now 34-27.  Connor Frederixon (215) won by a 12-2 major decision over Eli Dojan of Irondale, cutting the Irondale lead to 34-31.  Still undefeated Wildcat Logan Bender pinned Austin Holt at 1:38 to give the Wildcats a 37-34 dual meet win.

Logan Bender (18-0) is still ranked number one in Class AA at 285 pounds in the latest rankings at thegullotine.com.  And Connor Frederixon (24-3) is now ranked sixth at 215 pounds.

The Wildcats will host a triangular at Chisago Lakes High School with Big Lake and Princeton tonight starting at 5 p.m.
