When the seasons change and weather warms in Minnesota many property owners start making up their to-do lists and evaluate the priority repairs facing their homes and out buildings. The congregation at Lindstrom Trinity Lutheran Church is no different, and you may have noticed the church has undertaken improvements in preparation for the church’s 125 year anniversary.
Pastor Eric Nelson welcomes the whole community to join in future celebrations. “We invite anyone in the community to join us for worship and to stop in and see the progress on our stained glass work.”
When a group of early residents formed the first English speaking Lutheran church, July 11, 1901 it was established as Trinity English Lutheran Church on Newell Avenue.
The building’s stained glass windows have risen to the top of the maintenance list. Three sections of the 104 square-foot Martin Luther Window, on the north side of the church, have been getting cleaned, repaired, and had lead connections/outlines replaced. According to church officials there’s about nine more sections to go. The Minneapolis based stained glass experts Gaytee-Palmer have been entrusted to do the work. The Ford Brothers company originally crafted the windows for their installation in 1903.
“This was a project we had to do," says property committee member Kay Tate.
“These windows are important assets to Trinity, spiritually, artistically and historically,” added Cass Dennison, congregation president.
