‘I love to read’ month sweeping CL
Throughout the month of March, students at Chisago Lakes Primary School have been on an exciting reading adventure as they celebrate I Love to Read Month with the theme "Minnesota Wilderness: Wild About Reading!" “This special month is all about fostering a love for books while bringing the great outdoors into our school through engaging activities, creative projects, and, of course, plenty of reading,” Principal Amy Grice said.
Students explored stories that transported them into the heart of Minnesota’s wilderness—where they could imagine themselves camping under the stars, fishing by the lake, or encountering woodland creatures like bears and wolves. Each day has provided new opportunities to connect reading with creativity, as classrooms have been filled with beautifully crafted art projects inspired by nature. From hand-painted loons to raccoons and paper forests, the students' artistic talents have truly brought the theme to life. Beyond the crafts and decorations, the joy of reading has been the centerpiece of the celebration. Whether cozying up with a good book, participating in special read-aloud sessions, or sharing favorite stories with classmates, students have embraced the adventure of reading in meaningful ways.
“As I Love to Read Month continues, the excitement remains high, with more themed activities and special moments ahead. At Primary School, the goal is to make reading an adventure that lasts far beyond March—one that inspires students to keep exploring, imagining, and growing all year long,” Grice concluded.
