Warren R. Westlund, age 91, of Stacy, Minnesota, died unexpectedly on Sunday, February 23, 2025.
Warren was born August 6, 1933, in St. Paul, Minnesota, to Walter and Irene (Richardson) Westlund. He graduated from Forest Lake High School in 1952. Warren was baptized and confirmed and remained a lifelong member of St. John’s Lutheran Church. He married Gloria Jean Lammert on December 19, 1953, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Wyoming, Minnesota. Shortly after their marriage, Warren served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Fairbanks, Alaska. In 1957, after being discharged from the Army, he returned to Minnesota and settled next door to the family farm in Stacy.
Warren worked in various jobs over the years, with his final position being with the Forest Lake School District for 58 years.
Warren was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was passionate about farming, bowling, square dancing, and enjoyed visiting Branson, Missouri. He also took great pride in his flower and vegetable gardens, loved feeding the birds, and was known for hosting the annual Chicken Fry every summer, where family and friends gathered.
Warren is survived by his children; Deb (Scott) Johnson, Dan Westlund, Denise Fisher, and Duane Westlund; his sister Barb Elwell; his grandchildren; Dustin, Heather, Nick, Brett, Jessica, and Jason; as well as 11 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Gloria; parents, Walter and Irene; his brother, Kermit; his parents-in-law, John and Adelaide Lammert; his son-in-law, Shaun Fisher; his daughter-in-law, Cheryl Westlund; his grandson, Rusty Mattson; his brother-in-law, Donald Elwell; and two adopted children.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 22, 2025, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 31075 Genesis Avenue, North, Stacy, MN. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the church. A luncheon will be provided immediately after the service.
