Faye Hansen

Faye Joanne Hansen, age 83 of Chisago City, MN passed away peacefully on March 15, 2025 in Shoreview, MN surrounded by her family. Faye had been battling cancer for 2 ½ years.

Faye was born to Walter and Leona Raasch on September 7, 1941. Faye grew up in a farming family and learned to work hard and play hard. She spent the first eight years of her life on a farm outside of Mazeppa, MN before her family moved to a farm outside of Goodhue, MN. Faye graduated from Goodhue high school and moved to Minneapolis to work. In Minneapolis, she met and married the love of her life, Theodore “Ted” Hansen in April of 1964. They had four children before moving to Chisago City in August of 1971. Faye and Ted raised their children in Chisago City where she became the neighborhood mom who made the best bread and cookies, but also patched up many kids with the butterfly bandage.

Faye worked as a librarian’s assistant in the Chisago Lakes schools for 24 years. She was the go-to media lady when the Dewey decimal system was still being used, but did master the computer. Faye was a helpful and friendly face to the students and staff. Faye also served as an election judge for many years. Faye was actively involved in her church through the years with groups including the women’s guild, kitchen guild, choir and mentoring confirmands. She especially enjoyed the music and interacting with everyone at the church. She had a very strong faith which gave her comfort and peace through the years and at the end of her life.

Faye was known for her many talents in the kitchen from cooking homemade spaghetti to beef roast and mashed potatoes, baking bread, cookies and bars and canning everything from green beans to peaches. She was always ready to greet people with a cup of coffee and a sweet treat. Faye was an exceptional gardener, raising vegetables and beautiful flower. She took great pride in her gardens and passed on her knowledge and love of gardening to her children.

Faye was always willing to help other with her time and her talents. She liked to joke around with others to put people at ease and she had a great love for her family and friends. She felt blessed by the love and support she received from everyone while going through her cancer journey and the many visits from people while she was in hospice. She was well loved and will be greatly missed but was ready “to go cloud jumping with her brother Cal” and see her parents and her beloved husband Ted in heaven.

Preceded in death by parents, Walter and Leona; husband Theodore; brother Calvin and sister Marcella. Survived by children, Hans (Yolanda), Erik (Amy), Heidi (Chris) Lottsfeldt & Leif (Kristin); 14 grandchildren and two great grandchildren; brother Richard (Yvonne) and many family and friends.
