Jackie “Jack” J. Fountain, age 86 of Chisago City, MN, passed away peacefully on November 14, 2024 of pancreatic cancer in Rockport, TX.

Jack was born in St. Croix Falls, WI on November 8, 1938 to Wallace and Thelma Fountain.  Jack grew up on a family farm and learned the value of hard work.  They had no electricity or running water until he was in high school.  He graduated from St. Croix Falls High School and married his high school sweetheart Barbara Knight on May 28, 1960.

Jack joined the Wisconsin National Guard and then was called into Regular Army during the Berlin Crises.  After leaving the service, he started employment with Northern States Power Company (now Xcel Energy) and retired in 1996 after 35 years. After retirement, Jack was a volunteer driver for the VA.  He drove from Chisago County to the VA Hospital for 22 years.

Jack loved to fish, hunt, and trap.  Some of his other hobbies included raising migratory waterfowl, taxidermy, playing horseshoes, camping, spending time with family and friends and spending winters in Texas.

Jack is preceded in death by his parents; sister Regena Zokosky and daughter–in-law Kristin Fountain.

Jack is survived by his loving wife of 64 years Barbara Fountain; daughter Denise Fountain-Abbott; son Jason (Layne) Fountain; grandchildren Cody Abbott, Taylor Abbott, Riley Fountain and Bree Fountain; sisters Shirley Lipscomb and Juneal Lamb-Liddi; brother Robert Fountain.  

He will be missed by all who knew him.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, May 24 at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, 28005 Old Towne Road, Chisago City, MN, with visitation one hour prior to the service at church.  Interment at Chisago Memorial Park with Military Honors.
