Just before the start of this last school year, Chloe Haugen, Josie Hansen, and Alex Peterson from Girl Scout Troop 57426 completed their Silver Award. This is the second highest honor awarded in Girl Scouts. They took on the project of the Primary School playground. After waiting multiple summers for the referendum to pass so the playground could be repaved, the girls decided to move forward anyway. They needed to spend multiple days cleaning out the weeds that had taken over in the cracks of the asphalt before they could get to work on the heart of their project, painting fun games in bright colors on the asphalt. In total they each put in over 50 hours of hard work to complete their goal.
The Girl Scout council recently recognized their project at the Highest Awards ceremony. They were presented Silver Award pins and congratulated on the completion of their award.
If you have not been to the Primary School lately, please stop by the playground on the east side of the building to see their artwork and games. Multiple staff at the Primary School have reached out to tell the girls how much the kids love to interact with their new games and how the colors brighten everything up on the playground. Congratulations Chloe, Josie and Alex on a job well done!
