Fern Virginia Schnorr was born June 29, 1938, Duluth, MN and passed peacefully April 30, 2025, Forest Lake, MN.

Fern was the daughter of Leonard and Peggy Johnson and the cherished granddaughter of Frank and Stella Johnson.  A graduate of Proctor High School, class of 1956, Fern was a talented majorette and an artist for the yearbook, taking great pride in her beautiful penmanship.  

In 1958, Fern married Bill Wuorio, and together they welcomed their daughters Terri Drimel (George) and Debbie Appelwick (Mike)

She later had three sons, Todd (JoElle), Mel (Sheri) and Tim, with her husband Melvin Schnorr, whom she married in 1966. Fern was a devoted mother, raising a lively family of five children.  Fern pursued her education at Duluth Business University and was employed at UMD, where she dedicated 25 years to the Registrar’s office.  

Her family grew to include nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, along with her beloved kitty Abby.

In her retirement, Fern was an avid reader, enjoyed volunteering, and cherished spending time with friends and family. Especially, her great grandchildren who called her Ggma or GG.

There will not be a formal funeral service. Fern’s life will be celebrated with family at her favorite picnic spot on Lake Superior.  

If you wish to honor Fern, we suggest reading a book, buy flowers and enjoy your morning coffee and afternoon nap.  

We will miss her dearly.
