‘Cats make deep run, but fall to Elks
The fourth seeded Chisago Lakes boys tennis team got all the way to the final four of the Section 7AA bracket, but fell short against the top seeded Elk River Elks with a chance to go to the section championship game on the line.
With their high seed, the ‘Cats earned a first round bye before taking on fifth seeded Duluth East in the quarterfinals.
The Wildcats split the singles matches with Will Walker and Henry Kern claiming wins. Walker’s match was thrilling, with him winning 7-6 (6-3), 4-6, 7-5.
At the doubles spots, Aaron and Caleb Brink made quick work at first doubles, winning 6-1, 6-4 and Conner Frederixon and Quinlyn Ryan wrapped up a fast win at third doubles 6-1, 6-0.
But, the powerhouse that is Elk River was awaiting in the semifinals on Tuesday, May 27. The Wildcats couldn’t match the firepower of the Elks, losing 7-0, ending their season.
