The Rotary Peace Park and Trail came together with the goal to make peace visible in this community. Rotary Clubs strive to do good works and often multiple clubs cooperate on a project, which is what happened for this Chisago City location, overseen by Chisago Lakes Rotary.
Clubs in Prior Lake, White Bear Lake, River Falls, Stillwater Sunrise Rotary, Lino Lakes and New Brighton/Mounds View were Rotary partners in developing the trail near School Lake, off Liberty Lane.
Schools also are involved and peace poles will be installed, as created by Chisago Lakes high school, middle school and Lakeside students and Wolf Creek Charter school pupils and art teachers.
Clusters of poles will line the trail, and 15 to 20 poles will be set up in the garden space.
Along with the local institutions and rotary members, the project was made possible by Jeff Olson, Bill Mack, Justin Kral-Paradise Outdoors, Mickelson Landscaping, Kendall Howard, Riley Hoheisel, Adam Hawkinson, Chisago City Fire Department, and Chisago Lakes Area Community Foundation.
Chisago is part of Rotary District 5960.
