It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Kevin David Benson on October 22, 2025, in Fargo, North Dakota, at the age of 65.

Kevin was born on October 19, 1960, in Cambridge, Minnesota, to Elton and Jeanette Benson. He attended Concordia College, where he earned a degree in accounting and later achieved certification as a Certified Public Accountant. Throughout his distinguished career, Kevin served as Chief Financial Officer for hospitals in several communities, including Detroit Lakes, Minnesota; Fayetteville, North Carolina; Ortonville, Minnesota; Juneau, Alaska and Thermopolis, Wyoming. He was deeply committed to supporting the financial health and mission of each organization he served.

Kevin had a lifelong appreciation for the outdoors and was passionate about hiking, camping, and snowboarding. A dedicated athlete, he completed 38 marathons. He also cherished the time spent coaching his daughters’ soccer teams, sharing his love of sports and encouraging their growth both on and off the field. Kevin will be remembered for his sharp wit, sense of humor, and the joy he brought to those around him.

He is survived by his parents, his partner, Maria Missouri; daughters Britny Benson and Bailey (Damian) Dankert, their mother Pam Benson; siblings Tammy (Mark) Orgel and Tim (Teresa) Benson; and numerous extended family members and friends who will deeply miss him.

Kevin’s final act of kindness was as an organ donor, a reflection of his generosity and enduring desire to help others.

A funeral service in celebration of Kevin’s life will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at 11 a.m. at Kost Evangelical Free Church in North Branch, MN. Visitation for family will be held one hour prior to the service the church. 

Kevin will be remembered with love for his compassion, humor, and dedication to family and community. His memory will remain in the hearts of all who knew him.
