Marlis Lorena Deming Risberg passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of warmth and kindness that touched everyone who knew her. Born on March 7, 1941, Marlis devoted her life to her family and to loving others with a humble and loving heart. She was the proud and devoted mother of Loren Fredrick (Fred), Lynn David (Dave), and Lorena Marie (Lore), and a cherished grandmother to Jenna (Mike) and Alicia (Gavin).

Marlis was also blessed to be a great-grandmother to six wonderful children, whom brought her immense joy and pride. Marlis worked at Hazelden for 25 years, where she built lasting friendships and found great fulfillment in her work. Marlis was known for her gentle spirit, her unwavering faith, and her endless capacity to love. She led by quiet example—gracious, giving, and steadfast in her belief that kindness and faith could light even the darkest days. 

Those who knew her will remember her smile, her warmth, and her ability to make everyone feel valued and loved. Her family takes comfort in knowing that her love will continue to guide them, just as it always has. A celebration of Marlis’s life will be held in the spring, when the world is warm and bright. And in true Marlis fashion, we know she’d remind us all that there’s always room for dessert.
