Chisago Lakes sophomore Eloise Arntson made the most of her first trip to the Minnesota state swim meet on Saturday, November 15, turning in two steady races that showed she belongs in the thick of the Class A distance field.
Arntson opened her day in the 200 freestyle, where she bumped up from her prelim seeding and finished 13th overall in 1:58.27. She got out clean with a 27.02 opener, hung tight through the middle 100, and closed in 30.31 to score four team points for the Wildcats.
She followed it up in the 500 freestyle championship heat, holding her spot in a loaded field and placing seventh in 5:13.79. Arntson kept her splits remarkably level—most of them in the 31–32 second range—and had enough left to push home over the final 50.
Head coach Amanda Husfeldt liked what she saw. “I was so excited for Eloise on her first trip to the state tournament,” she said.
