Here are results of Tuesday night’s opening round  quarterfinal games for section soccer playoffs, along with a look ahead for the two winners, the North Branch Viking boys, and the Chisago Lakes Wildcat girls, who both play tonight.

North Branch Girls

The fourth-seeded Viking (5-3-8) girls hosted the fifth-seeded Hermantown Hawks (6-8-2) in the Section 7AA quarterfinals and lost 3-1, ending the season for the Vikings.

North Branch Boys

Playing at home, the Viking boys (6-6-5), also seeded fourth, defeated the fifth-seeded Hibbing/Chisholm Bluejackets (6-10-0) 2-0 in Section 7AA.  So tonight, the Vikings will face the top-seeded Duluth Denfeld Hunters (7-6-3) at 5:30 p.m. at Denfeld High School.  The winner of that game will move on to the section championship next Tuesday, October 14 at the home field of the higher seed.

Chisago Lakes Girls

The third-seeded Wildcat girls (8-5-4) shut out the sixth-seeded Park Center Pirates (2-11-2) 3-0 at home.  The Wildcats will advance to a semifinal matchup tonight at 7 p.m. against the second-seeded Hill Murray Pioneers (12-2-2) at Hill Murray High School.  The winner of that game will travel to Mahtomedi High School to take on the Mahtomedi Zephyrs for the section final on Tuesday, October 14.

Chisago Lakes Boys

In Section 7AA, the sixth-seeded Wildcat boys (2-14-1) travelled to Cloquet High School to take on the third-seeded Cloquet/Esko/Carlton Lumberjacks (7-7-2) and lost 2-1, ending the season for the Wildcat boys.
