Outerwear Fair, Brinks change

I understand that most of you get the paper on Thursday, but I wanted to remind you that the awesome volunteers over at Trinity Lutheran Church are currently holding their annual Outerwear Fair.  These folks have taken the time to collect gently used winter clothing for all— which the public if needed can come and pick out free of cost.  They meet you at the door by the rear parking lot, and a volunteer will help you shop for your items.  If you think they might run out of winter wear, trust me - they will not.  All these women and men care about is helping our friends and neighbors stay warm this winter. There is no judgment, just generosity.  If you or your family is maybe down on your luck this season, please please consider paying the outerwear fair a visit.  You can see the times and dates on the ad on page 7 of this edition of the County Press.

For those of you with inquisitive minds.. like me... last Saturday evening from about 8pm until 10pm, there sounded like an incredible fireworks show taking place somewhere.  We did take a short drive and were unable to see anything in the sky.  The show easily lasted two hours with some of the booms being incredibly loud.  Don’t get me wrong, I am not writing this to complain, I just wanted to possibly enjoy them as our family loves watching fireworks.  Well after some super sleuthing I found out that it was a pyrotechnics company just south of Highway 95 and County Road 9 testing out new fireworks.  They had a permit to do so if you are wondering.  Next time please share the testing with us, we would have loved to see it.

The fine family over at Brink’s Market is making a change with their weekly sale dates!

You will still get your Brink’s Market sale insert in the Chisago County Press on Thursdays (although this week’s ad is a two weeker while they make the transition, so there won’t be an ad next week!) but now you won’t have to hold onto the ad for a few days, as the sales will be starting on Fridays and running through the following Thursday. It’s a change from their previous Sunday-Saturday schedule.

With their upcoming store expansion, it’s going to allow them to make sure there are no hiccups for you, the customer, and to allow shoppers to get a head start on the weekend savings!

Those of you who don’t get the Press and get the standalone Brink’s Market insert will now also receive the direct mailer on Thursdays as well, instead of Saturdays.

Last week we took a full truckload of clothing that you donated to the homeless in the cities.  In the short time span between then and now, we have accumulated almost another truckload.  It warms my heart to see the generosity this community has and makes me even happier considering the state of our country right now.

Thanks to all who have and continue to donate to the homeless.  You are making a difference in this world.  If you plan on donating in the future, they are in need of warmer clothing and are in dire need of underwear and socks.  You can drop off donations  here at the Press and if you can’t make it here, we can always come get them from you.
